What would you consider as retirement age? What do you do after you retire? These are some questions that are left to each individual to decide how they want to spend the golden years of their lives.
Meet Alla Illyinichna Levushkina, almost 90 years of age. She’s a surgeon at Ryazan City Hospital near Moscow – yes she is, which means she still continues to perform four surgeries every day till date. She is still going strong after having worked continuously for 67 years.
Her lifestyle is living proof that there is no such thing as retirement. Your age does not determine your capabilities, both physical and mental. Her zest for life at 90 should be food for thought for any 60-year-old who says he/she wants to retire.
89-year-old Alla, does not need any help to look after her daily needs, but rather she provides care. She lives in a flat where she cares for her disabled nephew and her eight cats. When asked what keeps her going, this is what she said.
“Being a doctor isn’t just a profession but a lifestyle,” she told Lite FM when asked if she had any plans to retire. “If I stopped working, who is going to perform the surgeries?” She’s considered to be the oldest surgeon working in the world.
So, what’s the secret to her long, energetic life? “‘I didn’t find any secret to longevity,” she said. “I just eat everything, laugh a lot and cry a lot.”
She has already performed more than 10,000 operations, and has no intention of slowing down.
Age is no bar!
Alla, is an extremely inspiring person for all her colleagues
According to Lite FM she continues to write her reports by herself – a remarkable feat at her age
And with so many decades of experience, she has lots to talk and share
Her happiness reflects in her work.
